April 2010 – October 2010: Awarded a research grant by the Institute for the Philosophy and Sociology of Law, of the University of Milan, and worked on a project called “Legal Informatic Issues of geo-localized data processing”
July 2009 – December 2009: Visiting Researcher at Microsoft Legal & Corporate Affairs office in Redmond (WA) for two research projects: concerning legal issues in interoperability and data protection between USA and EU for e-Health and legal issues of Open Source business models.

2006-2010: Awarded a Non-Residential Fellowship by Stanford Law School Center for Internet and Society, proposing a research project concerning data protection and privacy between USA, Europe and Italy

2001-2004: At CIRSFID — Bologna University Interdepartmental Centre for Research in the History, Philosophy, and Sociology of Law, and in Computer Science and Law — completed the Ph.D. programme Information Technology Law and Legal Informatics. Advisors: Prof. Giovanni Ziccardi and Prof. Renzo Davoli. Dissertation: “Information Security, Privacy, and the Information Society.”
2000-2001: At CIRSFID — Bologna University Interdepartmental Centre for Research in the History, Philosophy, and Sociology of Law, and in Computer Science and Law — completed an LL.M. programme in Information Technology Law and Legal Informatics.
He is operating within Department “Cesare Beccaria” of University of Milan – Section of Philosphy and Sociology of Law, via Festa del Perdono n. 7 – 20122 Milan (Italy). His research topics are: 1) privacy and data protection; 2) intellectual property and interoperability of systems and data; 3) computer and network security; 4) computer crimes; 5) computer forensics.
